Overview

These are instructions on how to install and connect to the Mount Vernon VPN. Our VPN allows you to connect to our internal network from off-site, such as home or a public place. The VPN provides a secure internet connection, even if you are not needing to access internal resources, or are needing to have a United States geo-location when traveling abroad.

Installing the Application

  1. On your computer, download the application here and the VPN profile here
  2. Open a Finder window and navigate to the folder where the downloads are
  3. Double-click on the "barracuda_vpn_macos.zip" file to extract the installer

  4. Once done, drag the "Barracuda VPN Client" file that appears into the "Applications" folder

  5. Navigate to the "Applications" folder and double-click the "Barracuda VPN Client" application

  6. When the application opens, click "Allow" on any permission it pops up asking for

  7. Navigate back to the Finder window where the downloads are
  8. Double-click on the "upper_campus_vpn_profile.vpn" file

  9. Once you perform that action, it should open the Barracuda VPN Client application back up and automatically add a profile labeled "Upper Campus". You will see it in the profile list at the top and a message saying "Connect to Upper Campus". At this point, the application is ready to use. See below on how to get connected

Connecting to the VPN

  1. Open up the "Barracuda VPN Client" application when off-site

  2. In the "username" field, enter your Single Sign-On username
  3. In the "password" field, enter your Single Sign-On password

  4. Click "Connect"
  5. If the computer asks for a password to update the "keychain", enter the computer's login password

  6. If the application asks to "Accept the Server Certificate", click "OK"

  7. Once done, you should be connected and you can now use your computer as normal. All your internet traffic will be routed through the Mount Vernon network securely and you will have access to internal resources as if you were on campus

  8. Once you are done, be sure to click "Disconnect" to log off of the VPN
